Harold Eugene Edgerton photographic prints. 1930s-1970, n.d. (bulk 1930s).

The subjects represented in this collection range in dimension from the spash of a milk drop to the explosion of an atomic bomb. There are a number of studies of people in motion, including athletes from a variety of sports such as archery, diving, fencing, football, golf, pole vaulting, and tennis. Among the other subjects depicted, both animate and inanimate, are birds, bullets, and broken glass. About a third of the prints are multiple exposures showing successive phases of motion. The rest have been made from single exposures of as little as 1/100,000,000 of a second. Among these images are three silhouettes. There is also a print produced from a segment of high-speed motion picture film.

Gus Solomons Jr. is a dancer, choreographer, teacher, and writer. Gus Solomons Jr. began dance lessons while attending MIT. His first teacher was E. Virginia Williams, the founder of the Boston Ballet Company. He received his degree from MIT, in architecture, in 1961, then moved to New York City and became a soloist in the dance companies of Donald McKayle, Pearl Lang, Martha Graham and, Merce Cunningham.
